Marsh Farmhouse, New Gloucester c. 1760

The Marsh Farmhouse is an excellent example of the early colonial era in Maine and although its main house featured a dug foundation, the connected buildings did not. Being that it was time to transition from vacation home (as it was for most of the 20th century) into full time residence the natural spot was to start at the bottom. We came in an sensitively dismantled the two timber framed building that were there allowing for a new foundation to be poured. From there we built a new floor system and re-raised the timber frames then wove the accompanying framing and finish carpentry. Lots of period details were included our exterior finish. The client did an excellent job of general contracting the interior finish of a kitchen and bathroom. Finish photos are getting close, but for now these photos show the majority of our work.
